The 2200K extra warm white globe is the sweet spot between deep amber atmosphere and practical everyday performance. Dulora's 2200K range spans E27 and B22 bases across GLS, candle, fancy round, and filament forms, each delivering CRI 90 to 97+ across the 240V dimmable range. Rendering warm amber tones, textiles, and skin with an accuracy that standard CRI 80 globes cannot match.

2200K is warm enough to create genuine evening atmosphere in a dining room, lounge, or bedroom, while remaining practical enough to use as a primary light source across the full day. It is the temperature most often chosen for feature pendants, table lamps, and living room floor lamps in New Zealand homes that want warmth without committing entirely to the deeply amber 2000K.

All dimmable models work smoothly with Dulora's DimEzy range LED Light Dimmers. For the step up in warmth, see Ultra Warm White 2000K. For the most versatile everyday temperature, see Warm White 2700K.

AS/NZS certified, three-year warranty, Trusted by 2,200+ verified buyers. Trusted across Aotearoa since 2010.

The Everyday Warm: Why 2200K Extra Warm White Globes Are the Sweet Spot

What makes 2200K different from 2700K and 2000K?

The difference between 2200K and 2700K is subtle but visible in the right context. 2700K is the cleaner of the two: it is warm and inviting but reads as a conventional warm white. 2200K is noticeably more amber, producing a glow that feels deliberately chosen rather than default. Side by side in the same fitting, most people would describe 2200K as the more atmospheric and 2700K as the more practical.

The difference between 2200K and 2000K is larger. 2000K is deep amber, suited to dedicated evening atmosphere and spaces used primarily after dark. 2200K is warm enough for the same evening applications but practical enough to use as the only light source in a room across the full day. For New Zealand homes where a single fitting needs to work from morning coffee through to late-night conversation, 2200K is the better choice.

Which rooms suit 2200K most?

2200K works well in any room where evening atmosphere matters and where the fitting is visible or exposed: dining rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, and lounge areas. Feature pendants over a dining table, floor lamps in a living room, and bedside lamps are all natural applications, as are Edison filament globes in open pendants where the globe itself is part of the aesthetic.

It is less suited to kitchens, bathrooms, and home offices where task performance and colour clarity are more important than atmosphere. For those spaces, 2700K or 3000K gives a better balance. A practical approach for a home with mixed requirements: 2200K in living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms; 2700K or 3000K in kitchens and bathrooms.

Does 2200K work for sleep hygiene and wind-down lighting?

Yes. Warmer colour temperatures in the evening are broadly supported by sleep research as a way to reduce the blue-light stimulation that suppresses melatonin production. 2200K sits well within the warm amber range that supports natural wind-down, particularly when combined with a dimmer set to a low level in the hour or two before bed.

This does not require a purpose-built circadian product: a standard 2200K globe on a trailing-edge dimmer set to 20 to 30 per cent in a bedside lamp provides the kind of warm, low-intensity amber light that supports natural sleepiness without requiring any additional hardware.

Atmosphere, Illuminated.

Frequently Asked Questions: Extra Warm White Globes 2200K

  • What is the difference between 2200K and 2700K globes?
  • 2200K produces a deeper, more amber-toned glow that feels noticeably warmer and more atmospheric than 2700K. Warm White 2700K is slightly cleaner and brighter, making it the more versatile everyday choice. For spaces where evening atmosphere is important, 2200K creates a more considered environment; for spaces that need to work well across the full day, 2700K is the safer default.
  • What CRI rating do Dulora 2200K globes have?
  • Dulora 2200K globes are built to CRI 90 to 97+ across the 240V dimmable range, with select models reaching CRI 97+ for near-perfect colour rendering. At this level, warm amber tones and textiles appear natural and accurate compared to standard CRI 80 globes.
  • Do Dulora 2200K globes dim smoothly?
  • Yes. All dimmable models dim from 1 to 100 per cent without flicker or buzz when paired with a compatible trailing-edge LED dimmer, including Dulora's DimEzy range. See the full range at the LED Light Dimmers collection page.
  • Are Dulora 2200K globes certified for New Zealand?
  • Yes. All Dulora 2200K extra warm white globes carry AS/NZS certification for New Zealand mains voltage and are covered by a three-year product warranty.
