The E12 mini Edison screw base is the standard for candelabra fittings, American-style chandeliers, and specialty decorative luminaires found in New Zealand homes. It is not the most common base, but it tends to appear in the fittings that matter most to the look of a room: the multi-arm chandelier in the dining room, the decorative candelabra in the living area, the vintage-style pendant sourced from overseas.
Dulora's E12 globe range covers candle globes, fancy round globes, and globe forms across warm and extra warm colour temperatures, each delivering CRI 90+, rendering warm tones and room colour accurately in the proportionally small form that E12 candelabra fittings require. All dimmable E12 models work smoothly with the DimEzy range LED Light Dimmers, and the candle and fancy round forms are available in clear, frost, and decorative filament styles.
For the full candle globe range across all base types, see Candle Globes. For E14 small Edison screw fittings, which are more common in New Zealand than E12, see E14 Globes. If you are not sure whether your fitting is E12 or E14, check the base markings on your existing globe: E12 is 12mm in diameter, E14 is 14mm, and the two are not interchangeable.

E12 Globes: The Specialist Base That Powers Your Most Decorative Fittings
What is an E12 base and where is it found?
E12 is a miniature Edison screw base with a 12mm diameter thread. It is the North American standard for candelabra fittings and appears in imported chandeliers, decorative multi-arm pendants, and specialty luminaires designed for the US market. In New Zealand, E12 is less common than the E14 small Edison screw, but it appears frequently enough in imported and vintage fittings that it is worth knowing whether your fitting requires it.
The simplest way to confirm is to check the base of your existing globe. E12 and E14 look very similar, and the 2mm difference in diameter is not always obvious by eye. If the globe screws in but feels loose, it may be the wrong base. If it does not screw in at all, check the diameter.
What is the difference between E12 and E14?
E12 has a 12mm diameter thread and is the North American candelabra standard. E14 has a 14mm diameter thread and is the European and Australasian small Edison screw standard. The two are not interchangeable: an E12 globe will feel loose in an E14 socket and may not make reliable electrical contact, while an E14 globe will not fit into an E12 socket at all.
In New Zealand, E14 is the far more common of the two. E12 appears almost exclusively in fittings imported from the United States or designed to the North American standard. If your fitting came with the property and you are not sure of its origin, check the base diameter before ordering.
What globe forms are available in E12?
Dulora's E12 range covers the forms most commonly used in candelabra and decorative fittings: candle (C35) in clear and frost, fancy round (G45) in clear and frost, and decorative filament variants. These are the shapes that suit multi-arm chandeliers, wall sconces, and decorative pendants where the globe is visible and its form contributes to the aesthetic of the fitting.
For standard GLS (A60) globes and larger forms, E27 is the standard base. E12 is a specialist base and the product range reflects its specialist applications.
