How do I know if my fitting uses a 240V globe?

If your fitting is a standard ceiling pendant, wall light, floor lamp, table lamp, GU10 downlight, or G9 vanity fitting connected to your home's mains power, it uses a 240V globe. This covers the vast majority of all fittings in a New Zealand home.

The only exceptions are fittings that run off a separate driver or transformer (typically MR16 low-voltage downlights or under-cabinet G4 systems), and outdoor festoon lighting that may run at 24V. If you are not sure, check the label on the existing globe or the fitting itself: it will state the voltage.

Which base type do I need?
